He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 You neglect. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
