He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing and joyous 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
