He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
