He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
