He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
