He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
