He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives and palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
