He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
