The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
