The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
