The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
