The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
