When the sun shall be folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 But nay!
