The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
