The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
