The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
