The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
