The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 For a mighty day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
