The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
