The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
