The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 unto a mighty day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
