The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a great day 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A written record, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
