The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 To be raised for a Great Day? 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, "Stories of earlier men!" 13 Not at all - but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun, heights above the heights. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
