The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a Great Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
