The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 For a mighty day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
