The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 for a great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
