The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
