The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
