The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 will be easy, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
