The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
