The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
