The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
