The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the piercing star - 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
