Al-Taareq

The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
