The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The piercing star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And no trifle. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
