The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
