Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions lined up 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
