Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
