Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
