Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
