The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
