The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
