The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
