The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
