The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
