The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
