The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty God's Truth.
