The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
