The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
