Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Ruin is for every open slanderer, backbiter. 1 Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it. 2 thinking that his wealth will make him live forever. 3 By no means! They will be thrown into hutamah. 4 And what shall make thee know that which the Crushing Fire is? 5 (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah, 6 Which leaps up over the hearts, 7 Verily it will close in upon them, 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

True are the words of God the Almighty.
