Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Woe to every slanderer and backbiter 1 Who amasseth wealth; and counteth it. 2 Does he think that his wealth will prolong his stay on earth forever? 3 Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! 4 And what can make you know what is the Crusher? 5 (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah, 6 which will rise over the [guilty] hearts: 7 Verily it will close in upon them, 8 in outstretched columns. 9

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
